On September 2, 2019, Honorary Prof. Dr. Kanchana Ngourungsi, President of Naresuan University presided over the opening of “Community and Naresuan University Wastewater Treatment System” under collaboration between local community and the university along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sirikasem Sirilak, Dean of the faculty of Medicine, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Dondej Tungtakanpoung, Assistant to the President, who also participated in the ceremony. Government agencies, private dormitory operators, and local vendors around the university also attended the ceremony. The event was held at the Community wastewater pumping station No.9 nearby Gate 6 located on the Naresuan Campus. The main purpose of this project is to treat the wastewater from local community and university before releasing it back into the closest natural water source, namely “the Nong Lek Canal”. This water treatment system is beneficial for both Naresuan University (NU) and the local community surrounding the NU campus while serving as a solution to environmental problems and providing sustainability.
