2003 Nobel Laureate Presented a Lecture on Economics Analysis of the global economy, the event organised by Naresuan University

       Professor Robert Fry Engle III, the winner of the 2003 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel presented a lecture entitled ASEAN Event Series: Bridges  Dialogues Towards a Culture of Peace at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok recently. The event was sponsored jointly by Naresuan University and the International Peace Foundation (IPE).

       Prof. Robert F. Engle III is Professor of Finance at the University of New York Stern School of Business and Economics who developed the ARCH models for stock market analysis, valuation and stock market investment risks.

       As part of this important event, Prof. Dr. Kanchana Ngourungsi, Acting President of Naresuan University, presented an Honorary Doctorate in Economics to Prof. Engle. The event was also attended by Prof. Dr. Sujin Jinayhon, Former President and members of the University Executive who welcomed distinguished guests including academics, researchers, administrators and personnel in the financial sector and financial institutions, Faculty students and the members of the general public.






       Prof. Dr. Kanchana Ngourungsi, addressed the audience, stating that The lecture is an opportunity for participants to become more aware of the economic and financial situation of the world today and in the future, particularly from the perspective of economists and famous analysts." Dr. Kanchana further stated that "New knowledge is based on learning, research, creating innovations and academic achievements. Economics is an academic occupation which can raise the quality of life and achieve the strengthening of business, as stated by Professor Engle who showed that that the economy is the key to driving the country forward. The Knowledge Economy is very important as well in the education of the public for living with the philosophy of the Sufficiency Economy of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej as well as the research being undertaken at Naresuan University which is mainly focused on research that leads to internationalization.
