Naresuan
University has grown very rapidly as a public institution
of higher learning. The twelve years of achievement have
largely been the result of good governance and concern
for ethics and justice. Efficiency, flexibility, and transparency
are the key features of the administrative policy. From
July 29, 1990 to July 29, 2002, there has been a substantial
increase in student and staff numbers, programs, and infrastructure
development. Naresuan University is gradually moving towards
an international standard in terms of quality of research,
academic services, and the promotion of culture.
Many high-quality graduates have obtained
their degrees from Naresuan University to better serve
the needs of the nation during the last twelve years.
Thus, the university provides opportunities in higher
education for lower northern residents at relatively
low-cost, without the need to relocate in Bangkok or
elsewhere. Naresuan University also recognizes the importance
of further education at the postgraduate level for government
staff, private employees, as well as for general employment.
Thus, the emphasis has been directed towards continuous-learning
programs at the postgraduate level. These have not only
enabled individuals to upgrade their capabilities, but
they have also provided research information relevant
to local and national needs.
Information technology is one of many
major concerns of the university. A modern computer
network has been developed to meet the needs of both
students and staff. Besides providing practical training,
e-Iearning technology is scheduled to be an important
support system for teaching in the near future.
Naresuan University provides equal
opportunities in education to the community and tailors
programs to suit the needs of society, the country,
and increasingly the region. Staff development, investment
in infrastructure, and the improvement of research facilities
are also being given priority. Quality assurance has
been used extensively to guarantee a high standard of
education from entry to the postgraduate level. Thus,
the main objective for Naresuan University is to produce
graduates who not only have the necessary professional
knowledge, but also an ethical mind.
